Actor Imran Khan was detained by the Mumbai Police on October 10 while participating in a protest at August Kranti Maidan in support of the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) protest in Delhi. Which called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Imran, known for films such as Jaane Tu. Ya Jaane Na and I Hate Luv Storys. Had participated in protests held in July this year for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as the Education Minister following the leak of NEET question paper.

"Apparently I’m going for a drive," he said in the caption of a selfie shared from inside the police van on Instagram.

Mumbai, Police said. no permission had been sought for the protest in support of the CJP. And they could not grant permission due to the Bombay high courtIt was directions allowing protests only at Azad Maidan.

According to ANI, Imran was detained from the proposed protest venue at August Kranti Maidan. There, nearly 1,500 people have been detained in Delhi in view of the CJP's protest.

Imran clarified that he was present as a citizen and not representing any organization, stating, "I don't have demands. I am here as a citizen, as someone who lives in this city. I am here to see why freedom of movement is being restricted-why people’s voices are being suppressed.
