At the time, Roy was pursuing a degree in English Literature and mass communication at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi, focusing primarily on academics and classical dance.

The Accidental Audition in Delhi

Roy revealed that she accompanied a college classmate to an open casting call organized by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms in Delhi. Encouraged by the casting directors to read a few lines, she performed a simple dialogue test without anticipating any major callback.

Within days, she was flown to Mumbai and selected from thousands of applicants to portray Krishna Tulsi, the pivotal next-generation lead character in the iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

From Television Royalty to Bollywood Success

Farah Khan expressed amazement at how seamlessly Roy transitioned from a college student into one of the country's most recognizable television faces, before successfully conquering Bollywood with blockbuster roles in Gold and Brahmastra. Roy credited her classical Kathak training and discipline for helping her navigate high-pressure Mumbai production schedules.
