BJP’s new key roles for three poll-bound states – UP, Punjab and Gujarat

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a series of key appointments aimed at boosting its chances in the upcoming elections across India. In a move that is being closely watched

These three states are expected to be critical in determining the outcome of the elections, with each representing a crucial battleground for the ruling party. The BJP is looking to retain power in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state, while also trying to wrestle Punjab away from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Chugh, Tawde, and Poonia are all seasoned politicians who have served as Rajya Sabha MPs. They bring with them a wealth of experience and organizational expertise that will be crucial in ensuring the party's success in these key states.

The party is also expected to announce state-in-charges for other poll-bound states in due course, including Manipur, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. The appointment of new leaders will be a significant development in the run-up to the elections.

Just yesterday, the BJP unveiled a major shake-up of its senior leadership, with new party boss Nitin Nabin making several key appointments. Smriti Irani was recalled as a National General Secretary and returned to a leadership role for the first time since the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Amit Malviya, who had held the post of IT Cell chief for 11 years, has been dropped from his position.

Irani's return to the party is seen as a significant boost to Nabin's leadership. She had previously wrestled the Amethi seat from Rahul Gandhi in 2019 and lost her seat in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi constituency to Kishori Lal Sharma in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Nitin Nabin has also named Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal as the BJP's treasurer, while recalling senior leader Ram Madhav as a National Vice President. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and her Uttarakhand counterpart Tirath Singh Rawat have also been named to key positions.

BJP sources say that the overhaul of its media cell is a sign that the party is prioritizing effective social media communication in the wake of recent student protests at Jantar Mantar and the rise of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The appointment of Tarun Chugh, Vinod Tawde, and Satish Poonia to lead election campaigns across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab respectively is seen as a significant development in the run-up to the elections. With these appointments, the BJP is looking to build on its strengths while addressing its weaknesses.

The party's focus on social media communication is also being seen as a key strategy to engage with younger voters and address concerns around issues like student protests and economic growth.

In conclusion, the BJP's latest appointments are a significant development in the run-up to the elections. With these strong organizational hands leading election campaigns across critical battleground states, the party is looking to build on its strengths while addressing its weaknesses. The focus on social media communication is also being seen as a key strategy to engage with younger voters and address concerns around issues like student protests and economic growth.
