The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a surprise raid on premises linked to Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan’s Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust and university in Uttar Pradesh, searching for alleged proceeds of crime and financial records related to the diversion of government funds. The trust's headquarters were searched, as well as its affiliated university, in a move aimed at tracing illicit transactions and gathering digital evidence.
Meanwhile, tragedy struck in Kolkata when a devastating fire broke out at a four-storey hotel on Free School Street, claiming the lives of nine people, including a child. The blaze occurred around 2 am, catching most guests off guard as they slept. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene, but unfortunately, their efforts were too late to save those trapped inside.
