Arc Raiders Introduces Limited PvE Co-op Test, Evaluating Future of PvE Mode

Embark Studios has announced a limited test of PvE-only co-op in Arc Raiders. Starting October 13, as the developers evaluate the mode's potential as a permanent addition to the game. Players will be able to toggle between traditional PvPvE matchmaking and PvE-only matchmaking, with "zero player-to-player damage" between any group size.

The test aims to gather feedback and data to shape the future of the system.

According to the developers, 37% of players are focused on friendly co-op. Meanwhile, 34% are pure PvP, and 27% enjoy a mix of both. Just over half of the player base has expressed interest in a dedicated PvE option.

The test will run from October 13 to October 20. And the toggle will be removed and matchmaking will return to normal after the test ends.

Arc Raiders was originally envisioned as a PvE-only game, but transitioned to PvPvE extraction shooter before launch. The developers have regularly flirted with more explicit PvE mechanics. And a full PvE mode was previously tested in the Chinese version of the game.

This is, at least initially, a limited test, said the developers. Your feedback and data will help to shape the future of this system. Dustin Bailey, Staff Writer at GamesRadar, noted that the game might not be fun without the risk of PvP encounters.
