Key Highlights

  • New evidence submitted to CBI by Advocate Nilesh Ojha.
  • Allegations of Vaze's appointment to CIU without required rank.
  • Demand for custodial interrogation of accused in Disha Salian death case.

Advocate Nilesh Ojha, representing Satish Salian in the Disha Salian death case, has submitted a new piece of evidence to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and is seeking custodial interrogation of the accused. The new evidence, a report submitted to the Home Ministry, raises fresh questions in the case and substantiates points raised by Ojha earlier.

Ojha claimed that Sachin Vaze, a former police officer, was urgently reinstated into service and assigned to the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) on June 5, 2020, in violation of the applicable regulations. This, he alleged, was part of a conspiracy to execute the murder of Disha and cover up the crime.

According to Ojha, the report submitted to the Home Ministry clearly states that Vaze was appointed to the CIU without meeting the required rank of Police Inspector (PI). He further alleged that Vaze's appointment was part of a larger conspiracy involving extortion, the drug trade, and other illicit activities.

Ojha has submitted all the details to the CBI and outlined three other important demands in a letter. He intends to file a fresh petition in the High Court seeking immediate custodial interrogation of the accused and requesting that the investigation proceed under High Court supervision.

Disha Salian, who briefly worked with actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Malad on June 9, 2020. The Malwani police initially registered an accidental death report. However, a Special Investigation Team set up by the state government in December 2023 found no foul play in her death.

As fresh evidence comes to light, Ojha's initial concerns are gaining traction, with ANI reporting that the new revelations are corroborating his earlier claims of a deliberate cover-up and the true state of Disha's body, according to Ojha.
