A UK-Iranian dual national, aged 25, has been cleared to return home after being detained in London's Westminster borough on Thursday. The individual, linked to a major security breach at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, was granted bail following an investigation into suspected preparations for terrorist acts.
Authorities had been investigating the incident, which occurred roughly an hour prior to a local farmer's notification to law enforcement about a group of masked individuals near the suspected vehicles.
Following a reported sighting of suspicious vehicles approaching the US Air Force base, authorities detained five additional males, aged 23 to 25. Later, released them on police bail. One of the detained individuals had earlier contacted emergency services to report the situation, which prompted the initial response from law enforcement.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of RAF Fairford. This has been used by US bombers for recent missions to the Middle East.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham chaired a Cobra meeting in response to the incident, with officials citing "strong indications" that Iran had played a part. Tehran has denied any involvement, stating that it "categorically rejects and strongly condemns" what it calls "unfounded and malicious speculations" linking Iran to the incident.
US bombers have been operating from RAF Fairford in recent months. This comes after the UK's approval of a US request to use the base for defensive strikes on Iranian territory. In July, Iran stated that any base used for aggression against Iranian territory constitutes a legitimate target for its forces.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the events is ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence. The 25-year-old man was released on bail on Monday, with police citing their decision as "grounded in experience and strategy".
US President Donald Trump expressed surprise that the five men arrested on bail had not been detained further. Officials stated that he would not have made the same decision. Trump's comments suggest that the US government has been monitoring the individuals and believes they pose a threat.
