Actor Ajay Devgn has scored the biggest opening of his career with his new thriller, Drishyam 3. The film opened in theatres on Friday and smashed box office records across the country. Surprisingly, strong praise is also pouring in from Malayalam cinema viewers.

Many viewers are now comparing the new release directly to Mohanlal's Malayalam franchise.

According to box office tracker Sacnilk, the film earned ₹66.75 crore net in India on Day 1. The worldwide gross reached an estimated ₹95.10 crore on its opening day. These numbers represent the highest first-day total of Devgn's acting career.

The strong theatre turnout reflects steady audience interest across multiple regional markets.

Malayalam moviegoers have historically preferred Mohanlal's work over the Hindi adaptations. However, the latest release has surprised critics and audiences in Kerala. A Malayalam content creator recently posted a video praising the third Hindi instalment.

Those Hindi guys gave such a good conclusion to Drishyam the creator said.

He admitted he had previously skipped Hindi remakes entirely. He confessed, "Whatever who has the time to watch Hindi films."

The creator noted that original director Jeethu Joseph had no writing input on this project. He explained that the Hindi team wrote and developed the full script independently.

Social media users quickly joined the conversation under the video review. One user wrote, "reports suggest D3 Malayalam is like a soap opera.

Hindi is 100 times better than this." Another viewer stated, "Malayalam drishym 3 was utter flop." A third comment claimed, "Malayalam drishyam 3 felt like it was made more for business than for audience satisfaction." One fan quipped, "Why don’t we remake the Hindi third part back to Malayalam."

Still, dedicated Mohanlal supporters defended the legendary actor. One comment read, "No one can match Laletten's Georgekutty Emotions." Another user insisted, "No one can beat Mohanlal sir when it comes to performance."

Unlike the first two movies, Drishyam: The Conclusion is not a direct remake. Director Abhishek Pathak selected an original path with a unique ending for the third instalment. Devgn also confirmed that he sought Mohanlal’s approval before production began.

The filmmakers chose an original script to provide a distinct finale for the crime series.
