PM CARES Fund Sees Record High Closing Balance Amid Low Spending
The Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) has reached a record high closing balance of Rs 8,452.06 crore as of the end of financial year 2024-25, according to the latest Receipt and Payment Accounts (Audited) statement available on the PM CARES Fund portal.
Total contributions to the Fund fell to Rs 479.96 crore in 2024-25, with domestic donations accounting for Rs 479.04 crore and foreign donations adding up to about Rs 92 lakh. The Fund also received Rs 475.14 crore as interest income, including Rs 469.37 crore from fixed deposits and Rs 5.76 crore from regular accounts.

Spending on the Fund fell to a five-year low of Rs 87.85 lakh, with the majority going towards the PM CARES for Children Scheme and bank charges. The closing balance has increased 83 per cent compared to the previous year, marking a significant milestone for the Fund.
The PM CARES Fund was established in March 2020 as a public charitable trust under the Registration Act, 1908, with the Prime Minister serving as ex-officio chairman and other key ministers holding ex-officio trustee positions. The Fund's performance is closely monitored
