Manipur State Embroiled in Tensions as 48-Hour General Strike Enters Final Hours
The Manipur state was plunged into chaos yesterday as a 48-hour general strike, called The strike, which began on Monday evening, saw thousands of protesters take to the streets at several locations across the state, particularly in the valley districts, enforcing road blockades and disrupting vehicular movement.
Shops and business establishments remained closed throughout the day, while transport and commercial activities came to a grinding halt. The strike is scheduled to continue until midnight on Wednesday, leaving residents worried about the impact on their daily lives.

The agitation remained largely peaceful at most locations, although incidents of tension were reported in some areas. A security forces convoy was accused of deploying a fake explosive device at a gathering of supporters, resulting in the injury of a woman. At least four women protesters were hurt in a clash with police in Porompat, Imphal East district.
