As protests over the killing of a sanitation worker in East Delhi entered their third day on Sunday, AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar was released after spending 12 hours in detention. The development comes as Delhi Mayor announced Rs 10 lakh compensation and a job for one member of the deceased worker's family.

Kumar's wife Deepa had moved the Delhi High Court with a Habeas Corpus plea, which was disposed of after Delhi Police informed the court that Kumar had been released at 3:48 pm. The MLA from Kondli in East Delhi told The Indian Express that he had been 'kidnapped' while he was asleep at home.
