Google Pixel Watch Pro: A Step in the Right Direction
After spending time with the new Pixel Watch 5, I couldn't help but feel that it's time for Google to branch out and create a watch that truly understands its users' needs.
The Need for a Pro Version
As someone who has followed the Pixel Watch series since its inception, I'm excited about the potential of this new device. However, with each new iteration, I'm left wondering why Google continues to release updates that don't quite live up to my expectations.
The form factor remains unchanged, and while the introduction of new band colors is a nice touch, it's not enough to justify the price increase. The Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip, which powers the watch, feels like a stepping stone rather than a significant leap forward.
Health and Fitness Features
That being said, there are some notable health and fitness features that make me believe Google is heading in the right direction. The Insulin Resistance Trends and Blood Pressure Trends features, for example, offer a level of insight into one's health trends that's unparalleled in the industry.

The new Generative Watch Faces feature is also a game-changer, providing users with endless customization options and a level of fun that's hard to find elsewhere. However, these features alone aren't enough to justify the watch's current price point.
A Call for Ruggedness and Innovation
As someone who owns a Garmin Forerunner 970, I know firsthand how important it is to have a device that can keep up with your active lifestyle. That's why I believe Google needs to consider creating a Pro version of its watch – one that's designed for serious fitness enthusiasts and athletes.
A more rugged design, deeper focus on fitness tracking, and innovative features like GPS, heart rate monitoring, and stress tracking would make the Pixel Watch 5 feel like a truly flagship device. It's time for Google to step up its game and create a watch that truly understands what users need.
