Kunal Kemmu's Vibe Box Office Day 1: ₹1.29 Crore, Beats Madgaon Express's Opening-Day Numbers

Indian actor and director Kunal Kemmu's second directorial, Vibe, has had a slow start at the box office, collecting ₹1.29 crore net at the domestic box office on its opening day. The film is currently playing across 3,194 screens, with an overall occupancy rate of 12 percent.

Delhi NCR led the film's occupancy, with 13 percent of shows sold out, followed by Pune, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, which recorded 11 percent occupancy each. Mumbai also saw 11 percent occupancy across 328 shows. This modest performance is somewhat reminiscent of Kemmu's last directorial.

Madgaon Express, which initially struggled to find an audience before gaining traction after its OTT release in 2024.

Despite the slow start, Vibe has already surpassed Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi's romantic film Ek Din, which earned ₹1.15 crore on its opening day at the box office. The film has also edged past Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga, which collected ₹1.15 crore on its opening day.

According to industry reports, Vibe is expected to lose some of its initial charm in the second half of the film, as the narrative starts adding layers and twists that may not resonate with all audiences. However, with a budget of ₹1.50 crore, Kemmu's team will be hoping for a steady growth in box office collections over the coming days.

Vibe is an action-comedy directed and written by Kunal Kemmu. The film stars Kemmu alongside Sparsh Shrivastava and Preity Zinta, and follows two friends whose ordinary lives take an unexpected turn when they become embroiled in a high-stakes mission involving Indian intelligence agencies.
