The autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly began with a commotion inside the house. As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members raised their voices in protest against the Omar Abdullah government over various concerns. The Treasury benches responded to the Opposition's protest by raising the issue of restoring statehood.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather emphasized that hooliganism would not be tolerated, warning BJP members of potential repercussions for their actions. Despite this, some members managed to pose their questions amidst the chaos. Mustafa Kamal, a former minister who has passed away since the Budget session, was remembered by Speaker Rather during the obituary references.

As M Y Tarigami stood in the Treasury benches, he seized an opportunity to counter his BJP counterparts, citing two years of an elected administration as having passed without statehood being reinstated. The Congress and National Conference legislators swiftly joined in. Their voices echoing through the Assembly as they chanted slogans against the ruling party.
