Sony Announces New Planar Driver-Powered PS5 Headsets with Enhanced Bass and ANC

PlayStation has announced two new wireless headsets. The Pulse and the Pulse Edge, which promise to deliver enhanced audio quality and a more immersive gaming experience. The new headsets will be equipped with larger planar audio drivers than the previous Pulse pairs, resulting in "fuller, deeper bass" while maintaining a clean sound for PS5 players.

The Pulse Edge is the higher-end of the two newly announced PS5 headsets. Featuring ANC (active noise cancellation) and a planar magnetic driver. According to Joe Bentley, Vice President of Engineering at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the Edge has "double the magnet" volume compared to the PlayStation Pulse, which helps produce clear and enhanced bass.

The new headsets will include a detachable boom mic for voice chat, AI-enhanced noise rejection, and PlayStation Link support. The Edge is set to launch in while the Pulse is expected to launch "this holiday season," Pricing details have not been announced yet.
