Rahul Gandhi Greets PM Narendra Modi on 76th Birthday

Top opposition leaders sent birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he turned 76 on Thursday. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi shared their warm messages on social media.

Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in the historic town of Vadnagar in Gujarat. Political figures from different parties put aside political rivalries to greet him on his milestone day.

Rahul, Gandhi shared. his greetings on the social media platform X on Thursday morning. The Congress leader wished the prime minister well in a brief message to his followers.

"Happy birthday to PM Narendra Modi ji. Wishing you good health and a long life," Gandhi wrote in his online post.

Wishes Pour In Across Party Lines

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also posted his greetings on the microblogging platform. He shared good wishes for Modi's personal health and well-being.

"Best wishes to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and long life," Kharge posted.

DMK president and former chief minister M K Stalin sent greetings to Modi on Thursday. Stalin wished the prime minister good health, happiness, and a long life ahead.

The messages came amid busy political schedules across the country. Leaders from several regional parties also shared greetings throughout the day.

Varanasi Holds Special Prayers at Ahilyabai Ghat

In Varanasi, local leaders and residents organized religious ceremonies to celebrate Modi's birthday. Prime Minister Modi represents the ancient temple town in the Lok Sabha.

Seventy-six young priests gathered on the banks of the sacred river on Thursday morning. They performed special prayers and offered a milk abhishek to the Ganga.

The young priests, known as batuks, chanted Vedic hymns throughout the riverside ritual. They prayed for Modi's continued good health and a long life.

Neelkanth Tiwari, a local BJP legislator and former Uttar Pradesh minister, led the prayer ceremony. Many residents gathered at Ahilyabai Ghat to watch the ritual and offer prayers.

Several people in the gathering held framed photographs of the prime minister. Party workers distributed sweets to pilgrims and visitors along the ghats.

National Leaders Join Events and Rallies

Party officials arranged a busy schedule of events across the holy city of Varanasi. Top national leaders traveled to the constituency to join the celebrations.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were scheduled to attend key programmes. Both leaders praised Modi's public service and leadership over the years.

Union minister Chirag Paswan also joined the list of attendees in the city. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to participate in the local events as well.

Organizers launched an ambitious motorcycle journey as part of the public celebrations. The rally began in Varanasi and headed toward Modi's birthplace in Vadnagar, Gujarat.

The bike riders plan to cover multiple states along the route. They will interact with citizens and distribute commemorative materials during the journey.

Celebrations Across Assam and Other States

Celebrations also took place in northeastern India on Thursday. In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called on the public to mark the occasion at home.

Sarma urged citizens across the state to light candles and traditional earthen lamps in the evening. He asked families to light diyas and chakis to wish Modi good health.

Local groups in Guwahati and other towns arranged community prayers and distributed food to needy residents. Similar community drives took place in several other towns across the state.

Party units in several states organized cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, and tree planting events. The widespread activities marked another year of service for the veteran leader.
