Miss Pune Models Death: CBI Concludes Ante-Mortem Hanging Was Cause of Death
Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune and model-turned-actor, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now concluded that she died due to ante-mortem hanging.
The CBI's chargesheet alleges that Twisha's husband Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh subjected her to sustained mental cruelty, leading her to take her own life. The agency is investigating the dowry death allegations against them.
According to investigators, Twisha realized she was pregnant for the first time on April 16 and wanted time to decide whether she wanted to continue with the pregnancy due to Samarth's abusive behavior.
The couple had a tumultuous relationship, with an argument on April 17 that allegedly saw Samarth abuse Twisha using derogatory words. She then left her marital home and complained about his drug addiction.
Twisha also met with a psychiatrist, who prescribed anti-anxiety medication for 10 days. Later, she told her mother over the telephone that they wanted to prove her mad.

The CBI is now checking Twisha's phone to probe the dowry death allegations. The agency has concluded that there was no demand for dowry, but they will make their case before the trial court.
Twisha's family had previously alleged that the first post-mortem conducted at AIIMS Bhopal had been manipulated under the influence of accused retired judge Giribala Singh and her son, advocate Samarth Singh. The second post-mortem was conducted on May 24 to confirm the cause of death.
The medical board concluded that Twisha died due to asphyxia caused No other injuries were found on her body that suggested assault or scuffle prior to death.
Twisha's family has been seeking justice for their daughter and are hoping the CBI's findings will bring closure to their case.
