Bollywood has long found cinematic magic on the railways of Maharashtra, with Apta Railway Station being a popular filming location.

Located around 90 km from Mumbai and close to Panvel, Apta offers logistical convenience for production teams. The station has featured in several well-known productions, including Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara, PK and Shaadi No 1.

A Popular Filming Location

Central Railway officials note that film and web-series productions have emerged as a notable revenue source for the railway, earning nearly Rs 2.29 crore over the past three financial years through close to 30 shoots.

Apta has become synonymous with nostalgia and emotion, featuring in films such as DDLJ, Chennai Express and PK. The station's old-world architecture and rural setting make it an attractive location for scenes involving travel and nostalgia.
