In a major police operation, a shooting took place at an event in northern Switzerland overnight, leaving one person dead and five people injured. The Aargau Cantonal Police stated that the manhunt for the unknown perpetrator is currently underway, with possible motives and circumstances still unclear.

The incident occurred near a horse racing track in Schachen, Aarau, some 46km west of Zurich. A rave was scheduled to take place in the area into the early hours of Sunday.

Location of Shooting

An area around the racing track, the town's swimming pool and sports field has been cordoned off as a precautionary measure. The public is urged to stay away from the area. A large contingent of officers has also been deployed beyond Aarau "as a precaution".
