Warp’s new system is an out-of-the-box software factory for AI development

Warp has introduced a system called Warp Factories, designed to make building and operating AI software factories easier. The new infrastructure layer provides a simple environment for deploying agents and offers a roadmap for using them.

The target market for Warp Factories is smaller companies without the resources to develop a system from scratch. According to Warp CEO Zach Lloyd, the system will help these companies navigate complex tasks such as running agents in the cloud, steering them, and setting up memory and evaluation systems.

Warp Factories is based on the standard phases of software development but uses an agentic approach that automates any of those steps. Users can choose their own coding models and harnesses, and the system integrates with popular ticketing and messaging systems to plug in seamlessly to existing workflows.

The new system will also give managers tools to track how well the factory is performing, including comparing performance metrics for different configurations and optimizing token spend. While Warp Factories is not meant to replace software engineers entirely, it aims to make collaboration with agentic workforces easier. According to Lloyd, 30-35% of tasks are automated on a weekly basis, and this number is expected to increase as models improve.
