Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan recently opened up about her decision to pursue a career in acting over completing her education, an experience that still haunts her years later.

"I never finished my education, and that was something that kind of stayed with me," she revealed to podcaster Hanuman Dass. "Even though I had the opportunity, I got into movies and didn't study any further after Class XI."

Kareena's decision to leave school at 18 has been a topic of discussion for many years, with some people mocking her choice. However, she insists that it was a deliberate decision made to prove herself as an actor.

"I wanted to do something I wanted to do, to follow my heart," she said. "That's why I regret not completing my education – it's a lesson I've carried with me ever since."

Despite this regret, Kareena has made it her mission to ensure that her children, Taimur and Jeh, complete their education before pursuing their passions.

"Education is something I do regret not completing," she said. "That's why I have pushed my boys to finish their education first and then follow their hearts."

As a long-time advocate for girls' education in India, Kareena has been associated with UNICEF since 2014. Her commitment to the cause is deeply personal, given her own regret over not completing her studies.

"When UNICEF approached me about supporting young girls' education in India, I felt deeply about it because I had always carried that regret," she said. "I wanted to give back and make a difference in some way."

Kareena's journey in Bollywood began with J.P. Dutta's Refugee, which was released on June 30, 2000. The film marked her debut alongside Abhishek Bachchan and became one of the most anticipated launches of the year.

Years later, Kareena is set to feature in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming crime thriller Daayra. The film stars Kareena and Prithviraj Sukumaran as two ambitious police officers, with no songs in sight.
