India has condemned attacks on two ships with Indians on board in the Strait of Hormuz. In which two Indian seafarers are missing. The attacks occurred on October 11, 2026, and have raised concerns about the safety of commercial shipping in the region.

According to the Shipping Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, tanker MT PETRO DOLPHIN, carrying 11 Indian seafarers, was subjected to a drone attack at Sohar Anchorage. Nine Indian crew members had been successfully rescued and were safe, while two Indian nationals remained missing.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for international maritime trade. And recent attacks on ships in the region have raised concerns about the safety of commercial shipping.

India's Embassy in Muscat is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Omani authorities and respective ship management companies for the rescue of missing Indians and to provide all possible assistance to the Indian crew.

Shipping Minister Sarbananda, Sonowal said. that "We are continuously coordinating with all relevant authorities to fully support the ongoing rescue efforts and ensure every possible action is taken to safely locate our missing personnel,".

India has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the ongoing conflict through peaceful means. Emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in bringing an end to the tensions that have been escalating in the region.

The global maritime community is calling for an immediate halt to attacks on commercial vessels. Seafarers, and civilian infrastructure, emphasizing the need to preserve the freedom of navigation and the unimpeded flow of maritime commerce through international waterways, as mandated by international law.
