HBO Renews IT: Welcome to Derry for Season 2
The horror prequel series has been renewed for a sophomore run, with co-showrunner Brad Caleb Kane taking the reins solo.
Brad Caleb Kane will oversee the production of Season 2, which is set to take place in 1935 during the Great Depression. The season will center on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and face unimaginable horror.
The Muschietti siblings will continue to executive-produce the show, with Sarah Aubrey, head of original programming at HBO Max, expressing excitement about the prospect of further expanding on the series. 'We are excited to return to the chilling world of Derry and to deepen the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans love,' she said.

The renewal marks a significant milestone in the show's development, with co-showrunner Andy Muschietti previously stating that he and his team have a three-season plan for 'Welcome to Derry'. The season will follow the events of Stephen King's novel, which features five interludes. The first season drew an even closer connection between the TV series and the films, with show character Marge Truman revealed to be the eventual mother of Richie Tozier.
The show's return has been met with enthusiasm from fans, who are eager to see more of the terrifying world of Derry. With its unique blend of horror and mystery, 'IT: Welcome to Derry' is poised to captivate audiences once again.
