A man accused of decapitating his wife died after jumping out of a police vehicle in an attempt to escape while he was being taken to a hospital here for a medical examination in the early hours of Monday. Authorities at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) said the accused.

Goswami Cab Driver Accused Killing
Goswami, a cab driver, was accused of killing his wife, Riya Talukdar, at their residence here last week in a fit of rage following her alleged extra-marital affair. The severed head of his wife was later found wrapped in a polythene bag inside a fridge. Goswami surrendered two days after the murder.

Ramanuj Goswami, 30, had been accused of murdering his wife Riya Talukdar, 28, at their residence in Guwahati's Hatigaon area last week. According to police, Goswami was furious after discovering that his wife had been having an affair with another man.
Goswami Surrendered Two Days Murder
Goswami surrendered two days after the murder and was taken into custody He was then brought to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for a medical examination as part of the investigation. However, during the transport, Goswami complained of uneasiness and jumped out of the vehicle in an attempt to escape.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Guwahati, Tabu Ram Pegu confirmed that Goswami died after jumping from the police vehicle. The accused was brought to the hospital dead following an accident Pegu said.

Pegu added that the investigation into Goswami's murder is ongoing and that no arrests have been made yet. The police are still searching for witnesses who may have information about the case.
The police are expected to file a charge sheet against Goswami soon, sources said. The court will then decide on the bail plea of the accused.
