However, the film's momentum was short-lived, as the largely negative response from critics and audiences took its toll on box office performance.

Despite registering the second-best opening for an Indian film in the domestic market this year, behind only Dhurandhar 2's historic ₹103 crore start, Toxic saw a significant dip in collections on Saturday. The film earned ₹37.65 crore that day, a far cry from the projected weekend boost.

On Sunday, Toxic collected ₹23 crore, while Monday saw its biggest blow with just ₹7.45 crore. Tuesday's growth was modest at ₹7.85 crore, but Wednesday's update revealed a huge dip, with only ₹3.81 crore collected. This takes Toxic's eight-day domestic haul to ₹233.41 crore net (₹278.75 crore gross).

The Kannada version of the film fared worse, earning just ₹1.08 crore, while the Hindi version managed ₹2.32 crore. At this rate, it may be tough for the film to cross the ₹300-crore mark. In comparison, Yash's last juggernaut, KGF Chapter 2, earned a staggering ₹430.15 crore in net collections within its first five days in India.

Set against the backdrop of Goa still under Portuguese rule, Toxic tells the story of a gangster's rise and fall from power. The film has been in the news for its steamy, intimate scenes and sequences that have sparked controversy over their portrayal of women.
