The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch Revived for Modern Consoles and PC

The 1994 JRPG The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch. Exclusive to PSP since its English localization in North America in 2006. Is being revived by Neowiz, the publisher behind the acclaimed Soulslike Lies of P.

This revival marks a significant milestone for fans of the series.

The Japanese version of the game was released on the Nintendo Switch eShop via D4 Enterprise's EGGCONSOLE series of retro ports in 2021. However, it remains exclusive to that platform due to the lack of an official English localization. The only way to play the original English version is on PSP.

As with many Japanese games part of larger series that eventually reach Western audiences, they aren't always released in perfect sequential order. In this case, The Legend of Heroes 4 was released in North America in 2005 as just The Legend of Heroes, and its predecessor was localized the following year as The Legend of Heroes 2.

The upcoming revival is sticking with the original Japanese naming convention. Releasing it as The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch on PC and console at an undisclosed date. Neowiz aims for a polished, updated adaptation that recaptures the emotional experience of the original game.

"The White Witch has been cherished by RPG fans worldwide for over 30 years," reads a statement from a Neowiz spokesperson. "We want to bring a polished experience that recaptures the emotional experience of the original game, while inviting new and old players to immerse themselves in an updated adaptation."

Neowiz is looking forward to building a strong partnership with Nihon Falcom, the developer behind the series.

Coincidentally, Trails in Sky 2nd Chapter, the second release in a remake series of the whole Trails series, launched this week to fantastic reviews. This new chapter puts it even above critical darlings Resident Evil Requiem and Pokopia.

The revival of The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch is a significant development for fans of the series. Offering a chance to experience the game in a new way. With its polished adaptation and updated features, this revival promises to be an exciting addition to modern gaming.
