Helicopter crashes at Mount Ololokwe in Kenya, killing six people

A devastating helicopter crash occurred at Mount Ololokwe in central Kenya's Samburu county, claiming the lives of all six tourists on board. The aircraft, a Eurocopter EC130 B4, was on a scenic flight from a wildlife conservancy in Losaiba to Ewaso Nyiro when it went down.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed that the accident happened at approximately 09:13 local time and said it was co-ordinating operations with the transport ministry and Air Accident Investigations Department.

Local media reports indicate that the helicopter was carrying tourists, but the identities of those on board have yet to be confirmed. The Kenya Red Cross has told the BBC that the area is not yet accessible due to the remote location, but drones are being used to assess the scene.

The KCAA said it would lead investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident and urged anyone with information to come forward.

As news of the crash spreads, concerns are growing for the safety of air travel in Kenya. The incident has also raised questions about the maintenance and regulation of helicopters in the country.

The transport ministry has promised a full investigation into the cause of the accident, which is likely to be one of the deadliest helicopter crashes in recent Kenyan history.
