Bungie has officially shut down rumors claiming that Destiny will be revived through a merger with Marathon. Julia Nardin, former Destiny creative director and now Marathon creative director, addressed these rumors on Twitter, stating, "As someone who’s worked on both Destiny and Marathon, I can confirm that the 'leak' about us merging the two IPs is fake," She also added, "They share a lot of the same Bungie DNA, but like siblings they’re also their own independent entities. Please don’t believe everything you read online."
The post claimed that Marathon was going to be free-to-play in December and would feature a PvE mode called Investigations with "Destiny raid style bosses," It also mentioned that Bungie ends Marathon's seasonal schedule, delays a September update to December, and makes it more like Destiny 2.
