Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Embarks on $10 Million Renovation of Historic Pickford Center

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ iconic Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood is set to undergo a three-year renovation, with construction beginning this fall. The news was shared during the organization’s annual all-members meeting on Tuesday.

The $10 million project aims to improve the facility’s infrastructure and enhance its operations. Key upgrades include constructing additional collection vaults, upgrading climate control and mechanical systems, and improving lighting. New roofing will also be installed as part of the renovation.

Despite the scope of the project, efforts have been made to minimize disruptions to staff and operations. With 55 employees currently working at the Pickford Center daily, the renovation will be phased in to ensure a smooth transition for those affected. The Linwood Dunn Theatre and event space are expected to remain unaffected

While the cost of the project was not disclosed, it has been budgeted for The organization is committed to preserving its historic building and ensuring that it continues to serve as a hub for film study and education for years to come.
