The fifth and final season of the popular Netflix series 'Outer Banks' has been announced, with several changes following the tragic death of Pogue leader JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Season 4. The new season will premiere on August 20 exclusively on Netflix.
According to Tudum, every main character who survived Season 4 is back for Season 5, including Jon B. (Chase Stokes), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Topper (Austin North), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Rafe (Drew Starkey), Cleo (Carlacia Grant), and Sofia (Fiona Palomo). However, Rudy Pankow will not be returning as a cast member due to his character's tragic death.

Recurring characters Groff (Crane) and Deputy Shoupe (Cullen Moss) have been promoted to series regulars in Season 5. Unfortunately, some notable characters from Season 4 who did not make it to the final season include Lightner (Rigo Sanchez), who died during the Season 4 finale, and several others who were killed
Jon B. will have a new arc in Season 5, focusing on the emotional fallout of JJ's death. Fans can expect more screen time for Groff and Deputy Shoupe as well. 'Outer Banks' Season 5 will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix starting August 20.
