Devi and Winders Colombian Nightmare: Earthquake Strikes Again After Venezuela Tragedy

Deivi and Winder, two Venezuelan teenagers, have experienced their share of disasters after witnessing devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. Now, they've been caught up in another disaster in Colombia.

Their Journey to Safety

After the twin quakes on June 24th that struck Venezuela with devastating effect, killing over 6,300 people and leaving many more missing, Deivi and Winder fled their home in La Guaira, an area hard hit by the disasters.

The brothers, aged 15 and 17, moved to Cali, Colombia, where their father works, in search of safety. However, they have now been caught up in another disaster in Colombia.

Another Disaster Strikes

Three days after arriving in Cali, Deivi and Winder felt the ground shake again. The brothers were at home when the earthquake struck, leaving them shaken.

'The earthquake is haunting me,' Deivi Delfín says. 'I feel like I and my brother have been chased by tremors these past few months.'

Witnessing Devastation

The brothers witnessed devastating earthquakes in Venezuela that killed their mother, grandmother, and brother.

'My world came crashing down,' Winder says. 'I kept insisting but my mum just wouldn't budge.'

As they were heading home on the evening of June 24th, the earthquakes struck just 39 seconds apart. The brothers hugged and shut their eyes when the first earthquake hit.

When they reopened their eyes, everything was covered in dust and debris. When they arrived home, they saw the 12-storey apartment building had collapsed, trapping their mother, grandmother, and brother under a mountain of concrete.
