Batwara 1947 Falls Flat at Box Office After Independence Day Boost
Batwara 1947 Concludes Disappointing Weekend Run
The historical drama starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta ended its weekend run on a disappointing note, with the film's Sunday collection failing to sustain the momentum it gained from Independence Day celebrations.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Batwara 1947 earned ₹7.25 crore net on Sunday, marking a 46.3% drop from Saturday's collection of ₹13.50 crore net.
The film opened with ₹5.75 crore net on Friday and saw a massive jump on Saturday, helping it reach ₹19.25 crore in its two-day total.
However, the film couldn't carry this momentum into Sunday, with its first weekend total standing at ₹26.50 crore net in India.

When compared to Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, which collected ₹26 crore net on its third day alone, Batwara 1947's performance becomes even more apparent.
The film has managed ₹26.50 crore net in its entire opening weekend, a stark contrast to Sunny Deol's previous release Border 2, which had collected ₹54.50 crore net on its third day.
Both films share similarities with their patriotic backdrop, but their theatrical journeys have been vastly different.
Batwara 1947 tells the story of a Muslim man who migrates to Pakistan during the Partition and takes it upon himself to protect a Hindu woman while ensuring his family's safety amid chaos.
The film marks Preity Zinta's return to the big screen after almost a decade, as well as the first on-screen collaboration between Sunny Deol and his son, Karan Deol.
