Angelina Jolie has spoken candidly about her journey of healing and recovery in a new film, sparking speculation that it may be inspired

The 51-year-old actress and director wrote and starred in the war drama 'Without Blood', which explores themes of healing after trauma. The film is based on Alessandro Baricco's novel of the same name and stars Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir.

According to sources close to Jolie, her new film is a deeply personal project that reflects her own experiences with trauma and recovery. 'Angelina hasn't explicitly said this film is about Brad, but when she talks about trauma, healing and returning to the place where you broke, it is impossible for people close to the situation not to see parallels with what she has lived through,' a source told Radar Online.

Jolie and her ex-husband Brad Pitt separated in 2016 after being together for 12 years and married for two. Their breakup led to a lengthy series of legal disputes, including a battle over their French winery, Château Miraval. The former couple share six children.

'I was drawn to Alessandro Baricco's beautifully written novel because it examines universal truths about conflict, memory and what it is to be human,' Jolie told People about her film. 'My approach was to shape and edit more than to write.'

Jolie also praised Salma Hayek's performance in the film, saying, 'It's a very challenging piece for actors who had to be very brave and emotionally open.' The actress has spoken publicly about her own experiences with trauma and recovery, including her diagnosis with breast cancer.

'The film is for anyone who seeks answers and healing after trauma,' Jolie said. 'To sit and talk with openness and honesty, is a beginning.'

Jolie's personal journey has also been reflected in another of her projects, 'Couture', which she wrote and directed about a low-budget horror movie director juggling single motherhood during a divorce.

'I needed someone special, someone that would have a special connection with the story,' writer-director Alice Winocour said about casting Jolie. 'Angelina has a lot in common with the character.'
