CBS News chief correspondent Matt Gutman accused of workplace harassment by producer Samira Said.

ABC News producer Samira Said has filed a lawsuit against CBS News and its parent company, The Walt Disney Co., alleging workplace harassment by Matt Gutman.

Allegations of Hostile Work Environment

Said claims that Gutman created a hostile work environment through two incidents while they worked together at ABC News.

Gutman joined CBS News in January 2022 as the network's chief correspondent, following nearly two decades at ABC News. He was hired by Bari Weiss, who is also editor-in-chief of CBS News.

The first incident allegedly occurred during an assignment when Gutman made inappropriate comments about a female colleague's appearance and reduced her professional standing to a numerical score based on her physical attributes. The male crew members joined in, continuing to assess the woman'sand looks in Said's presence.

In another alleged incident, Said and Gutman disagreed over whether the team should leave a work site while covering a press event for a movie release. Gutman responded by making a sexualized insinuation that Said must have an after-hours date in the city, which demeaned her professional judgment to a sexualized stereotype.

Said also alleges that ABC News and its parent company, The Walt Disney Co., mishandled her requests for medical accommodations following an assignment covering the 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. She claims she was assigned to interview child survivors who witnessed the killings of their classmates and experienced severe psychological symptoms as a result.

From August 2022 through January 2023, Said was granted medical leave, during which her psychiatrist continued to certify the medical necessity of her leave on a recurring basis. Despite this, ABC News allegedly denied her requests for accommodations, further exacerbating her mental health struggles.
