Bengal's Beloved Filmmaker Raja Sen Passes Away at 71

Raja Sen, a three-time National Film Award-winning filmmaker, has died at the age of 71. The veteran director was undergoing treatment at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata when he succumbed to his health complications on Sunday.

According to reports from news agency PTI, Raja Sen had been struggling with multiple health issues and was on ventilator support at the hospital. His condition had deteriorated significantly over the past few days, according to a doctor at SSKM Hospital.

Raja Sen's prolonged health problems began years ago when he suffered a serious back injury while working on his film Maya Mridanga in the 1980s. The injury was initially not considered serious, but it gradually affected his mobility over time.

He also directed Atmiyo Swajan, which won the National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare in 1999.

Raja Sen's film career spanned over three decades, during which he worked extensively with prominent personalities and cultural figures. His films have won laurels at international film festivals.
