‘Trust of Global South in BRICS has grown’: PM Narendra Modi

The trust of Global South nations in BRICS has grown significantly over the years. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the BRICS leaders' outreach summit on Sunday. In his address, Modi stated that this growth is a direct result of the organization's commitment to hearing and respecting the voices and experiences of its member countries.

"The trust of Global South nations in BRICS has grown because within BRICS, their voices are heard," he said. "Their experiences are respected, and solutions are created with them, not merely for them." This sentiment was echoed.

Modi Also Highlighted Pressing Need

Modi also highlighted the pressing need for nations to enhance their resilience in the face of rising global tensions. "Tensions across the world are constantly rising, having a significant negative and far-reaching impact on the lives of ordinary people," he warned.

He emphasized that pandemics, climate disasters, and supply-chain disruptions have shown us that no crisis remains confined to a single region. To address this, Modi said that India has placed special emphasis on enhancing resilience within the BRICS group.

Under Modi's chairmanship, India has focused on four key pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. The BRICS Incubator Network, which aims to connect start-ups and incubators, is a prime example of this focus. Additionally, the BRICS Startup Innovation Fund will promote innovative and scalable solutions.

Modi also emphasized the importance of cooperation among nations. Authorities stated that India has endeavored to ensure that BRICS cooperation is not limited to governments alone. However, also involves entrepreneurs, farmers, researchers, women, youth, and ordinary citizens.

Modi Highlighted Indias Commitment Sustainability

Modi highlighted India's commitment to sustainability, which he believes is essential for the well-being of future generations. "In Indian civilization, nature is revered as a mother," he said.

"For centuries, we have held the belief that development and the environment are not alternatives to each other, but are complementary." This philosophy has guided India's approach to BRICS cooperation, which prioritizes balance between human development and environmental sustainability.

Modi also confirmed the establishment of the BRICS Urban Mobility Hub, which aims to facilitate the sharing of best practices among cities. Furthermore, India has set up the BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence for Smart Grids and Energy Storage. This will help make energy more secure and sustainable.

These initiatives demonstrate India's commitment to creating a more resilient and sustainable world, in line with its vision for BRICS cooperation.
