Written and directed On Thursday, Universal Pictures confirmed that the film became the highest-grossing R-rated film release of all time when The Odyssey’s Wednesday worldwide tally elevated the film’s ticket sales to $1.352 billion worldwide. The record previously belonged to Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $1.338 billion worldwide in 2024.
Now a day after achieving the monumental theatrical feat, Variety reported that Universal will release The Odyssey on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Variety noted that the film will also be released on physical media, including 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD the same day.
The Odyssey will reportedly be available for both purchase and rent on PVOD, but Variety did not indicate how much each will cost. Typically, new PVOD releases cost anywhere from $19.99 to $29.99 to purchase and $14.99 to $24.99 to rent for a 48-hour period. PVOD purchases and rentals are generally available on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube Movies & TV.
