The film follows Slavik, a mysterious drifter from Russia, as he navigates the remote village in central Ukraine. There, he meets Nina, a strong and independent woman who embodies post-Soviet Ukraine's independence and resilience. As their unlikely companionship blossoms, love turns into betrayal, and the village reveals its hidden rules – where witches may live next door, and the dead sometimes speak with the living.

Vorozhbyt's vision is both deeply personal and universally relatable, as she explores the socio-political dynamics between Russia and Ukraine through the lens of this unlikely relationship.
