CRITIC VERDICT
"Reporting Live is a solid, if flawed, thriller that benefits from Parineeti Chopra's strong performance."
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Strong performances from the lead actors
  • Effective tension-building in the first half
CONSIDERATIONS
  • Pacing issues in the second half
  • Underutilized supporting cast

Parineeti Chopra shines as a tenacious young reporter who refuses to back down from a story, but even her stellar performance can't salvage the film's narrative issues. Director Dhruv Tripathi's latest, Reporting Live, is a taut, crime-thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but falters in its second half.

Inside the Dark World of the Syndicate The film's greatest strength lies in its portrayal of the ruthless syndicate that's terrorizing the small town. Deven Bhojani and Adil Hussain bring depth to their characters, making them more than just one-dimensional villains. The camera work is also noteworthy, capturing the gritty, unforgiving landscape of the sand-mining operation.

Chopra and Bhojani's chemistry is palpable, and their banter is a highlight of the film. Their character's partnership is built on trust and respect, making their interactions believable and engaging. However, the supporting cast, including Shekhar Suman and Amol Palekar, feels underutilized.

A Sandstorm of Pace Issues The film's pacing is well-handled in the first half, with Tripathi expertly ratcheting up the tension. However, the second act meanders, with some scenes feeling like they're dragging on for too long. The cinematography, which was so effective in the first half, starts to feel repetitive and formulaic.
