Game Developer Openly Discovers New Storytelling Techniques Through Experimentation and Learning
The Eventide is an immersive paranormal narrative investigation game that draws inspiration from The X-Files and The X-Files' style of storytelling. With branching narratives and emergent storytelling, players are tasked with solving cases alongside a team of detectives.
Key Development
The game's development was influenced by the creative director's past experiences at BioWare, where he worked on several high-profile RPGs. The Eventide's unique blend of mystery and supernatural elements is a result of the team's shared beliefs about game development and storytelling.
"We want to make something, and we're willing to open up the editor, go find a YouTube video, and learn how to do something 20 years into a career," says Kris Schoneberg, design director at Studio Reset. "We are willing to do it, and so many people aren't.">

Team Rebuilding
The Eventide is the result of the trio's desire to create an indie game that showcases their unique perspective on storytelling and gameplay.
"The assumption there is that you don't want to get your hands dirty anymore," Schoneberg continues. "You don't want to get in the engine. You don't actually want to go make something, but we want to make something."
