The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a significant step towards digital inclusion As part of this effort. The retirement fund body has asked members to follow its official WhatsApp channel for the latest updates and useful information concerning their provident fund accounts.

Members can access the official EPFO WhatsApp channel through the following link: https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb6kmH48Pgs8ftd6Kw3Y. Besides sharing updates, the EPFO WhatsApp channel also provides members with educational content through useful links.

Epf Scheme Provides Retirement Savings

The EPF scheme provides retirement savings along with tax-free interest growth, contributions from the employer and financial security for the family. Among its key features are a 12% contribution rate. Online access to the EPF passbook, convenient transfer of accounts, nomination facilities and options to withdraw funds.

Under the proposed system, EPFO members would be able to initiate a conversation with the organisation. Members would also be able to receive updates related to the EPFO directly on their filed mobile numbers. According to reports, the service would support local and regional languages, allowing users to communicate in a language they are more comfortable.

Earlier this year, EPFO streamlined its partial PF withdrawal framework. Under the revised rules, members can withdraw up to 100% of their eligible PF balance. Meanwhile, the withdrawal limits for education and marriage have also been increased.

The minimum service requirement has been reduced to 12 months.

The EPFO has also raised the limit under the auto-settlement facility to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 1 lakh. The facility allows subscribers to access their funds within three days for requirements including marriage, education, illness and housing.

In May, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reportedly shared that the EPFO intended to use WhatsApp because of the messaging platform's widespread use among mobile phone users across the country. This move aims to enhance digital inclusion and provide members with easier access to information.
