Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a bilateral visit to Uzbekistan from August 29 to 30 and the Kyrgyz Republic for the 26th SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Detailed Bilateral Talks

The talks are expected to focus on cooperation in trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people domains.

The 26th SCO Summit marks the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, with India having been a full member since 2017.

At the summit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to address the forum and highlight India's priorities of security, connectivity and opportunity.

The two leaders are also likely to discuss advancing the shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.

Prime Minister Modi is also expected to visit the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

He will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, a celebration of Central Asia's rich cultural heritage.

Announcing the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs stated, “At the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister will undertake a state visit to Tashkent on 29–30 August 2026.

This will be the Prime Minister’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan.” During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. “The two leaders would review cooperation in trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people domains and set the agenda for the road ahead.
