Israeli army orders criminal investigation into killing
The Israeli army has ordered a criminal investigation into the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza, following an internationally condemned attack on her family's vehicle.
Hind was one of seven family members travelling in a vehicle that came under Israeli fire in Gaza City in January 2024. She initially survived the attack but died days later along with several relatives and two paramedics who tried to save her.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had decided to initiate a criminal investigation due to alleged failures in the coordination of the movement of the Palestine Red Crescent ambulance.
This is the first time the IDF has admitted opening fire on the vehicle carrying Hind and her family. The incident has sparked widespread outrage globally, with many condemning Israel's actions as unjustified.
