Born in Benin, Kidjo has built an international career spanning over 40 years and 18 albums. Her work has been recognized globally, including being named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people and nominated as one of Africa's 50 most iconic figures.
"Your example has elevated our global music community," Mason Jr. said, hailing Kidjo as a "rare artist." "This star is a permanent symbol; it's not going anywhere, and it's a symbol of your achievements. But your legacy lives in the people you've touched, inspired, broken barriers, and connected all around the world." Dafoe praised Kidjo's immense energy on stage, calling her "the hardest-working woman in show business," while highlighting her dedication to humanitarian work through her Batonga Foundation.
